Cowboy Poems

Hot coffee on a cold day
The smell of fresh cut hay.
Leather creaking on the horses back
Bologna sandwich and chips in a brown paper sack.
Soft leather boots hugging my feet
Stirrups swinging to the winds gentle beat.
Ripples in the pond where I took a swim
Sun shining hot, sweat on my brim.
Sweet bellow of a calf nearby
The crow of a rooster passing by.
Sounds and sights from all around
That make this cowboy’s world
go round.
